I know it is still inconclusive and mere speculation at best, but I am still shocked at the idea that Edgar and, almost certainly, Charlotte were possible members of the Order of the Phoenix -- and disappointed, to be honest. You know my thoughts on the Order and how my empathy for those who wish to help in this war, but cannot in an official capacity only goes so far before I believe they must still take responsibility for the laws they have broken if they truly support the Ministry. I still believe in the system, and I still believe there are reasons for why vigilantism is illegal -- it is just as much for the public's safety and to ensure the rule of law as it is to protect those who would engage in it.
Now, I do ultimately blame the Death Eaters and only them for what they did to our family, but I would have expected better of Edgar -- if our theories are true, I admire him for his desire to do good and stand up against He Who Must Not Be Named in his own way, but it seems so foolish he would do this when he had a young family to think about. With all due respect, what sort of skills did he even have that would be useful to a group like that? He loved history and Merlin -- what use is that against dark wizards in a war? Was there not another way he could have helped that would have been safer and better suited to his skills? Did he not realise the disrespect and lack of trust such a thing showed towards you and me for our respective jobs? Not that it matters now or that it is about us, but I still wonder.
There's rather no use or any point in this, but I can't help feeling betrayed at some level -- and not because he never told us and we had to figure it out for ourselves, as I logically understand why that is. And we have been saying over and over again that he could not have been a Death Eater and it seems unlikely, but how well did we really know him in the end? We never would have dreamed he could be an Order member either, and what if we are wrong about that in the worst way possible? [ END WARDS. ]

Good evening, everyone. You, of course, all know who I am, as well as my brother, Oliver Bones, so I shan't waste any more time on introductions and pleasantries. And I am warding this to both the Auror Office and Hit-wizards as I know what I am about to say covers both jurisdictions.
My brother, sister-in-law, and I have reason to believe we may know why our elder brother, Edgar Bones, and the rest of our family was targeted and murdered by Death Eaters on Sunday night -- and we are being forthcoming about it in the hopes that it will aid the investigation into their deaths. We are not entirely certain about this, but we have circumstantial evidence -- some of which you must know already -- that he may have been a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and that our late sister-in-law, Charlotte Bones, had some knowledge of his involvement. I assure you that if this is true, it is as great a surprise to Oliver, Eleanor, and myself as it must be to you. However, we can think of no other reason for why he and everyone else would have been killed when they were purists with an heir to carry on the family name through a Pure-blood line and stayed out of the war, unlike Oliver and myself.
Oliver and I are both more than willing to answer questions under this ward. We wish to do our part in aiding with the investigation where we can, and we both assure you that we still do not condone vigilantism as a means to fight He Who Must Not Be Named and his Death Eaters. [ END WARDS. ]

I am sure you both must have been informed about this at the same time I was given DMLE procedures, and I wish I wasn't doing this in such an impersonal way, but Death Eaters have apparently murdered Edgar, Charlotte, their children, and our parents.
I must admit that I am at a loss as to why they would have gone for them rather than myself -- it seems to make the most sense that this is retaliation for Mulciber being sent to Azkaban. But in that case, why our parents, who were still staunch members of purist society? Why Edgar and Charlotte, who were also purists? And why the children? They have done nothing, and if He Who Must Not Be Named is so concerned about the survival and dominance of pure blood, why murder Pure-blood children? And I would never value sons over daughters, but why kill even the 'heir' who would ensure that the Bones name would be carried on in a Pure-blood line? All that as revenge for a few convictions that I will certainly not stop securing from the Wizengamot? [ END WARDS. ]
